Piazza dei Cavalieri is one of the most popular squares in Pisa, also known as the Knight’s Square. In Medieval times, it was an important political centre and you could find the Muda Tower just around the square, which later became a prison, the Palazzo dell’Orologio, known as the Clock Palace, and the Scuola Normale, the higher institution from Napoleon’s times, which exists to date.
